Job summary

Yamazaki Mazak Singapore is seeking an Applications Engineer to support CNC machining applications, from solution development to machine demonstrations and process optimization. You will create machining programs, run test cuts, and provide on-site or remote technical support for customers across the region.

Ideal candidates have a Polytechnic diploma with 2 years’ CNC experience, solid CAD/CAM knowledge (SolidWorks a plus) and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma in engineering with at least 2 years' CNC machining experience.
• SolidWorks CAD knowledge and CAM tool exposure (HyperMill, MasterCAM, NX) preferred.
• Strong understanding of metal cutting principles and precision machining.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; proactive and self-motivated.
• Willingness to travel to regional offices for project support.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate CNC machine models and options based on customer requirements.
• Draft turnkey proposals including machining processes and tooling concepts.
• Create machining programs and perform test cuts on customer parts.
• Provide on-site/remote technical support and customer training.
• Demonstrate machines in showroom and support field demonstrations.

The role offers hands-on exposure to advanced CNC technologies, CAD/CAM systems, and turnkey manufacturing projects.Key Responsibilities:Evaluate and recommend suitable machine models and options based on customers’ workpiece/project requirements.Draft machine recommendation or turnkey project proposals based on customer’s requirements, which may include designing and proposing optimum machining processes, performing time studies, proposing optimal tools and designing of fixture concepts.Create machining programs and perform test cuts for customer workpieces.Conduct programming and operation training to customers.Provide on-site/field support for new machine commissioning, workpiece test cut and machine runoffs.Provide technical support to customers, either remotely or on-site, at customer’s premises.Perform product demonstrations and setting up of machines in showroom for customer visits or company events.Requirements:Minimum polytechnic diploma with 2 years of working experience in relevant field of CNC machining, preferably in Turning, Milling and/or Multi-axis Multi-tasking Machining Centers.Working knowledge of 3D CAD software i.e. SolidWorks, and/or experience in CAM software such as HyperMill, MasterCAM or NX, would be advantageous for the role.Possess good engineering background & application knowledge in metal cutting principles and techniques in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.Coupled with this experience, the candidate will require to have excellent communication & presentation skills, both written and oral and have a high degree of self-motivation.Possess a positive attitude towards problem-solving and strong sense of urgency in handling of projects/responsibilities.Good customer service and interpersonal skills.Be prepared to travel to support regional offices for enquiry and project support including execution of turnkey projects.Fresh graduates with relevant experience in precision engineering and a strong desire to learn are encouraged to apply.
