Job summary

Volante Technologies is seeking an experienced Production Operations Engineer to act as the technical expert for VolPay. You will work with the Service Bureau team, business stakeholders, and external partners to support production environments, manage incidents, and drive improvements across payment-processing platforms.

The role covers L2/L3 incident management, Docker and Ansible Tower operations, and monitoring for international payments and SWIFT workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in banking application support.
• Significant experience supporting VolPay or a similar payment platform.
• Experience in an international banking or financial services environment is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards and ISO 20022.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional and technical support for the VolPay platform.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents and service disruptions.
• Ensure SLAs are met and communicate with stakeholders during incidents.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive permanent corrective actions.
• Manage Docker container operations and Ansible Tower configurations.
• Support international payment processing and monitor SWIFT messages (MT103, MT202, MT940, MT950, ISO 20022).
• Perform advanced troubleshooting on Unix/Linux, IBM MQ, databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Develop automation scripts and maintain deployment and monitoring tools (Splunk).
• Participate in releases, rollback planning, and ITIL change processes.
• Identify automation opportunities to reduce recurring incidents and improve monitoring.

Role Context

The successful candidate will act as the technical expert for VolPay (VolPay by Volante Technologies), working closely with the Service Bureau team, business stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and external partners, including SWIFT. This role covers production support activities, Level 2/Level 3 incident management, payment flow analysis, platform monitoring, and participation in strategic payment-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

Application Support & Production Operations

Provide functional and technical support for the VolPay platform.

Investigate and resolve production incidents and service disruptions.

Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).

Communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout incident management activities.

Participate in on-call support rotations.

Monitor recurring issues and drive permanent corrective actions.

Manage Docker container operations, including start, stop, restart, and configuration through Ansible Tower.

Manage Docker upgrades, deployments, and version tracking.

Payments & SWIFT Expertise

Support and monitor international payment processing activities.

Analyze and troubleshoot SWIFT messaging and payment flows, including:

• MT103
• MT202
• MT940
• MT950
• ISO 20022 messages (pacs, camt, pain)

Work closely with the Service Bureau team on incident resolution and system enhancements.

Investigate payment failures, rejections, duplicates, delays, and reconciliation issues.

Technical Administration & Troubleshooting

Perform advanced troubleshooting on Unix/Linux environments.

Analyze and resolve issues involving:

• IBM MQ / MQ Series
• PostgreSQL databases
• MongoDB databases
• Batch processing
• File transfers and system integrations

Develop and maintain scripts to automate operational tasks and investigations.

Implement and maintain Splunk monitoring alerts to proactively detect application, infrastructure, and payment-processing issues.

Change & Release Management

Participate in application releases and deployments.

Prepare and execute implementation and rollback plans.

Perform post-deployment validation and production checks.

Contribute to CAB activities and ITIL change management processes.

Continuous Improvement

Identify automation opportunities and operational efficiencies.

Reduce recurring incidents through proactive improvements.

Enhance monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilities.

Maintain comprehensive technical and operational documentation.

Deployment & RUN Operations

Execute Volpay deployment.

Manage Docker container lifecycle (start/stop/restart) via Ansible Tower.

Management of Dockers.

Develop new Ansible templates.

Administer and monitor supporting infrastructure: Kafka, Zookeeper, MongoDB.

Maintain and improve deployment scripts and procedures (Docker-based).

Required Technical Skills

Payments (Mandatory)

• Strong expertise in VolPay or similar payment applications, with hands‑on experience managing Docker-based deployments and operations.
• In-depth knowledge of international payment processing.
• Solid understanding of SWIFT messaging standards.
• Good knowledge of ISO 20022.

• Strong Unix/Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Docker management.
• Shell scripting (Bash, Korn Shell).
