Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Counsel for APAC to lead legal support for commercial activities across the region. You will negotiate high‑impact agreements and provide pragmatic guidance to Sales, Partnerships, Finance and Product teams.

Based in Singapore with a hybrid work model, you will help build scalable legal frameworks to enable responsible growth while working with OpenAI’s global legal group.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience across in-house and technology-focused law firms.
• Strong background drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment and being proactive.
• Excellent communication with clear business judgment and tailored advice.
• Ability to build cross-functional relationships and adapt to diverse audiences.
• Strong ownership, curiosity and enthusiasm for technology.
• Australian- or Korean-qualified with enterprise sales/partnerships experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the legal partner for OpenAI’s business transactions, partnerships, and operations.
• Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to Sales, Partnerships, Finance, Procurement and Operations teams.
• Identify and address commercial, product, regulatory, privacy and other legal issues arising from transactions.
• Develop scalable strategies and processes to support responsible growth.
• Monitor and advise on regulatory and compliance matters affecting AI and technology.
• Collaborate with OpenAI’s global legal team to ensure jurisdictional alignment.
