Job summary

PBA SYSTEMS PTE LTD is seeking a dynamic Technical Lead (AI, Software) to provide hands-on leadership and people management for the AI engineering team, while serving as the main on-site manager of the Sri Lanka branch. You will architect scalable AI solutions and guide a high-performing team toward delivering AI-driven products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with AI/ML systems and production-grade AI applications.
• Experience leading teams or coordinating a branch/site office.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Rust, C#, and Dart; solid ML concepts.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to generative AI, NLP, or computer vision; governance/ethics is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking; agile experience.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management; ability to partner with operations leadership for multi-functional branch.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and development of AI/ML-based software systems and set engineering standards.
• Oversee end-to-end AI lifecycle from data pipelines to deployment and monitoring.
• Mentor and develop a team of AI/software engineers including performance reviews.
• Support recruitment and retention of engineering talent; foster collaboration and accountability.
• Translate requirements with product/data stakeholders into technical solutions and plan projects.
• Communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager to manage branch staff and operations.
• Represent the branch to senior management and external partners.
• Stay current with AI/ML trends and drive adoption where relevant to the business.
