Job summary

Lidl & Kaufland Asia is seeking an experienced AI/ML prompt engineer in Singapore to translate business needs into optimized LLM prompts, agent workflows, and conversational AI logic. You will collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to deliver scalable prompts for Gemini and the Google-based data ecosystem.

You will design prompts for multi-step reasoning and RAG-grounded outputs, work with Looker Studio BI dashboards, and help advance AI-enabled reporting across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 3+ years in AI/ML, Data Science, or NLP engineering with hands-on prompt engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Workspace (GWS).
• Deep expertise in crafting prompts for Google Gemini and other major LLM families.
• Familiarity with Looker Studio and integrating conversational AI with BI dashboards.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for business stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently.
• Able to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex business requirements and queries into precise, scalable LLM prompts.
• Design, test, refine, and version-control prompts for GCP, Databricks, and Gemini.
• Craft prompts and system instructions for AI agents enabling multi-step reasoning and autonomous execution.
• Develop context-aware prompts using RAG frameworks grounded in proprietary data.
• Evaluate prompt performance and models to ensure high-quality, hallucination-free outputs.
• Deconstruct problems into steps that an LLM can process effectively.
• Design and optimize conversational logic for AI chat interfaces in Looker, and align with data pipelines.
• Collaborate with data engineers to structure semantic layers for Gemini queries.
• Facilitate feedback loops between end-users and technical teams for AI reporting tools.
• Work with Data & AI engineers to integrate prompts with pipelines in GCP and Databricks.
• Partner on RAG and agent orchestration implementations and improve retrieval quality.
• Stay up to date on Generative AI best practices and document prompt engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Analytics to upskill stakeholders in interacting with AI tools.
• Support ad-hoc AI and analytics projects as needed.

Job description

Drive the adoption and optimization of Generative AI capabilities to empower business decision-making. Reporting to the Senior Analytics Manager, this person works closely with business stakeholders and data teams to translate complex business needs into highly optimized LLM prompts, agentic workflows, and conversational AI logic.

What you'll do

• Translate complex business requirements and natural language queries into precise, effective, and scalable Large Language Model (LLM) prompts
• Design, test, refine, and version-control prompts tailored for our default ecosystem (Google Cloud Platform, Databricks, and Gemini)
• Design specialized prompts and system instructions for AI agents, enabling them to perform multi-step reasoning, tool-use, and autonomous task execution
• Design context-aware prompts that effectively utilize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks to ground AI responses in proprietary business data
• Evaluate prompt performance and underlying models, making iterative improvements to ensure high-quality, hallucination-free, and contextually accurate AI outputs
• Deconstruct complex business problems into logical steps that an LLM can process and answer effectively

AI Integration & Reporting

• Design and optimize the conversational logic, underlying prompts, and intent-recognition rules that power AI chat interfaces for our primary reporting tool, Enterprise Looker. Partner with data engineers to ensure semantic layers, data definitions, and metadata are structured effectively for Gemini to query and interpret accurately
• Facilitate feedback loops between end-users and technical teams to continuously refine and improve AI-driven reporting tools
• Work closely with Data & AI engineers to ensure prompt engineering efforts integrate smoothly with underlying data pipelines within GCP and Databricks
• Partner with AI Engineers on RAG and agent orchestration implementations, providing feedback on retrieval quality, data chunking strategies, and semantic search effectiveness to optimize the context fed into the LLMs
• Stay up to date on industry best practices and emerging technologies in Generative AI and prompt engineering
• Document prompt engineering best practices, create prompt libraries, and act as a subject matter expert on prompt design and LLM behaviour
• Collaborate with the broader Analytics team to transfer knowledge and upskill stakeholders on interacting effectively with AI tools
• Support the organization on ad-hoc AI and analytics projects

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field
• 3+ years in AI/ML, Data Science, or NLP engineering, with hands‑on experience in advanced prompt engineering, custom AI agent configuration (e.g., Gemini Gems, Custom GPTs), and conversational analytics.
• Hands‑on experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Workspace (GWS) environments
• Deep expertise in crafting prompts for Google Gemini (knowledge of other major LLM families like OpenAI GPT or Anthropic Claude is a strong plus)
• Familiarity with Looker Studio and experience building or integrating conversational AI/chatbots with BI dashboards
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical AI concepts for business stakeholders
• Self‑motivated and proactive with a can‑do attitude and ability to work on projects and solve problems independently
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to a fast‑paced environment
