Job summary

DSTA is seeking an AI-Robotics engineer to advance autonomous systems for multi-robot reconnaissance in complex terrain. You will work with engineers and researchers to develop and apply AI and robotics for real-world defence challenges, contributing to state-of-the-art autonomy through software and hardware integration.

Responsibilities include SLAM, autonomous path planning, sensor data processing, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience in robotics development with both software and hardware integration.
• Strong background in C++ and robotics software development.
• Familiarity with ROS/ROS2, robotics simulation, version control (Git), and Docker is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and test multi-robot exploration capabilities including sensor data processing and SLAM.
• Implement and optimize ML models and robotics software on unmanned platforms.
• Lead software and hardware integration, conducting simulations and field trials.
• Drive continuous innovation in AI and robotics tooling.
• Collaborate across a multidisciplinary team in a defence tech context.
