APL Logistics is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Leader to drive strategy and implementation across cloud and on-premise environments, ensuring stable, secure systems and networks globally. The role emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders, oversight of DR and security, and guidance on modernization of middleware and databases across regional or global scopes.

Job Description

Support the Manager by leading the implementation of strategy for global infrastructure operations and maintenance to ensure availability of stable and secure systems and networks. This includes identifying problems and presenting new methodologies/solutions to key stakeholders to enhance and improve the delivery of infrastructure operations and maintenance services for cloud, on-premise, server and network infrastructure. Knowledgeable in both technical and business aspects of the organisation’s IT infrastructure to bridge gaps and enhance collaboration between IT and functional teams. Evaluate infrastructure performance against changing business needs and users requirements and assist with the development/revision of infrastructure blueprint/roadmap.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Strategy & Design Implementation

• Assist with development of roadmaps, policies and standards to achieve desired future state IT infrastructure for the organisation.


• Recommend process, product or service improvements, resource optimisation and cost savings.


• Partner with stakeholders to define infrastructure operations and maintenance requirements for new technology implementations.


• Anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues.


• Evaluate trends and new technologies in engineering to enhance infrastructure and orchestration.


• Assist in the design, implementation and execution of backup and disaster recovery plans for infrastructure.


• Manage exceptions to architectural standards at an infrastructure level.


• Develop communication plans for stakeholders engagement.


• Facilitate the evaluation and selection of infrastructure technology and the design of configuration standards.

Infrastructure & Network Development & Maintenance

• Forecast utilisation patterns and identifies modifications or upgrades.


• Conduct capacity workload modelling and availability analysis for platforms and environments.


• Recommend changes and/or enhancements for improved systems availability, reliability and performance.


• Monitor infrastructure availability and performance to ensure compliance with SLAs. Measure KPIs at service end points and gather accurate, real time data on the service provided.


• Run activation tests to ensure a service instance delivers on its KPIs.


• Assist in development of SLAs, metrics and key performance indicators.


• Ensure adherence to security requirements, regulatory and legal compliance in infrastructure operations and maintenance activities.


• Recommend and implement software or hardware changes to rectify problems or address improvement opportunities.


• Assist in post implementation and continuous improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality.


• Utilize modern development platforms and languages to develop custom solutions to comply with moving on-premise applications to the cloud.


• Analyzes technical needs, requirements, and state of the network’s infrastructure design, integration, and operations.


• Work closely with outsourced service providers to facilitate the planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of requirements for network systems (both physical and virtual). This includes fulfillment of end-to-end services.


• Assess performance of key partners and vendors according to defined service delivery metrics.


• Serve as a high level technical resource on large scale projects and assist in resolving complex technical problems on new and existing implementations.


• Support and work alongside cross-functional engineering team on the latest technologies.

Enterprise Architecture & Modernization

• Support the lifecycle and maintenance of enterprise middleware or database platforms.


• Build, implement and maintain robust solutions for middleware or database products to meet business demands including performance tuning, upgrades, clustering, redundancy and disaster recovery.


• Modernize platform design and security practices.


• Build and implement the Cloud architecture platform and DevSecOps practices.


• Provide specialist advice and act as the last point of contact for case escalations. Liaise with Management team on rectifications and service recovery actions where required.


• Manage incidents and changes on systems, storage and backup infrastructure.


• Supervise the setup of new IT Infrastructure including physical servers, SAN storage, virtual server environment, enterprise backup and recovery and UAT with external technology vendors.


• Oversee and plan for system administration related activities.

Qualifications

Substantial comprehensive job related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level (Over 6 to 10 years). Regional or global experience is mandatory for this role (Over 2 to 3 years). Experience of supervising and coaching people and directing resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes is an added advantage.
