Job summary

Athel Accounting in Singapore is seeking an accountant to manage a portfolio of SME clients, ensuring accounts and compliance work are completed accurately and on time.

You will gain hands-on exposure across bookkeeping, financial reporting, GST and corporate tax, working with experienced reviewers and leveraging Xero and cloud accounting tools.

This role offers progression from accounts prep to portfolio lead with structured support and opportunities in client advisory.

Qualifications

• Diploma, degree or professional qualification in accounting or a related discipline.
• At least two years of relevant accounting experience is preferred.
• Experience in an accounting firm, corporate service provider or outsourced accounting environment will be an advantage.
• Able to handle full sets of accounts independently.
• Familiarity with Singapore GST and corporate tax requirements will be an advantage.
• Experience with Xero or other cloud accounting software will be an advantage.
• Able to communicate clearly with clients and team members.
• Comfortable managing several clients and deadlines at the same time.

Responsibilities

• Handle full sets of accounts for a portfolio of SME clients.
• Perform bank reconciliations and review accounting transactions.
• Prepare year-end schedules, management accounts and financial statements.
• Prepare quarterly GST returns and supporting schedules.
• Prepare corporate tax computations and supporting schedules.
• Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve accounting matters.
• Maintain proper supporting documents and organised working papers.
• Coordinate with accounting and tax reviewers to clear review points.
• Guide junior team members where required.
• Monitor deadlines and ensure that assigned jobs are completed on time.

We are a Xero Gold Partner and use cloud accounting tools to improve efficiency and reduce repetitive work. You will work with experienced accounting and tax reviewers and gain practical exposure across bookkeeping, financial reporting, GST and corporate tax.
