The Accountant will lead a team of finance and admin specialists, work with auditors, bankers, and regulators, and stay current with statutory tax changes to inform financial reporting.

Job description

Accountant reports to management and is involved in most, all aspects of accounting and in-chargeof full set of accounts for Group and subsidiary accounts. The Accountant is responsible for daily activities of accounting and ensures that the Organisation's finance function is well organized, providing accurate financial statements and management accounts on time, thus achieving compliance with corporate policies and statutory requirements.

The Accountant's role involves leading a team of finance accounting, admin specialists and working closely with internal and external auditors, bankers, and regulators. Accountant must keep current with changing statutory requirements and taxation to determine the implications of such changes to financial reporting.

Accountant analyses data and understands the financial performance and position of the Organisation in order to develop suitable accounting policies to meet reporting requirements and to produce any special reports required by the management. Accountant may also work with the other department leaders to help define the Organisation's overall finance strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Calculate taxable income and the income tax liabilities of the organisation

2. Calculate the cost of different types of capital financial instruments and the overall costs of capital for the organisation

3. Compile accurate tax-related information for the organisation

4. Compute the valuation of business and financial assets using different models

5. Ensure the respective privileges and rights are in place within the accounting information system for users with different job roles and functions

6. Extract data and provide analysis for management using relevant accounting information systems or software

7. Implement policies and procedures with emphasis on Internal Controls to prevent possible fraud and errors

8. Maintain accurate journal entries and allocations

9. Manage accounts payable and receivables to help the organisation determine working capital needs and funding strategies

10. Operate accounting information systems efficiently and effectively

11. Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities

12. Plan and coordinate the annual financial audit process

13. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements

14. Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing account information

15. Prepare financial statements and disclosure notes

16. Provide accurate and timely tax and financial reports to the relevant authorities

17. Provide data in relation to assets, capital rationing and cost of capital

18. Reconcile accounts and provide analysis for the organisation's financial transactions

19. Respond to resolve issues on audit data, variances and audit findings
