Job summary

Naval Base PrimarySchool is seeking a Science Lab Assistant to support science instruction. The role includes preparing materials, procuring supplies, and ensuring safe, orderly lab operations for Primary 3–6 classes.

The position requires a GCE O-Level qualification and school experience, with Word/Excel proficiency and basic procurement skills. Training in safety and first aid is preferred.

Qualifications

• GCE O-Level qualification and at least one year of school experience.
• Ability to use basic Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Procurement skills including ordering and replenishment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare experiment materials for Primary 3–6 per Scheme of Work and requests.
• Procure approved materials and confirm with Science reps at least one week before lessons.
• Ensure battery-operated equipment is ready for lessons.
• Support teachers and students in experiments and record results safely.
• Keep Science Rooms clean; maintain equipment and store items properly.
• Maintain logs for room use and breakages; catalogue equipment.
• Maintain chemical and equipment inventories; assist with stocktakes and purchases.
• When not required for labs, manage front desk and answer inquiries.

Salary range: 1800-2300

Name of Authority: Naval Base PrimarySchool

Contract Period: 1 January 2027 to 31December 2028.

Personnel to be deployed atthe following hours:

• Working hours: To be confirmed.

Requirements:

• GCE O-Level qualification and at least one yearof experience working in a school.
• Ability to use basic Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Procurement skills, including ordering andreplenishing supplies, are preferred.
• Experience preparing lesson materials andsupporting teachers with lessons and activities is preferred.
• Organisation and administrative skills,including inventory management and accurate equipment/material records, arepreferred.
• Experience following or enforcing workplacesafety procedures is preferred.
• First Aid training is preferred.

Job Scopes:

The Servicesrequired are set out as follows:

• 1. Prepareexperiment materials for Primary 3 to 6 according to the Scheme of Work andScience representatives' requests, including after-school programmes whererequired.
• 2. Procure approvedmaterials and confirm preparations with Science representatives at least oneweek before lessons; trial experiments when required.
• 3. Ensurebattery-operated and rechargeable equipment is ready for lessons.
• 4. Support teachersand students in experiments, accurate recording of results, safe equipment useand health and safety procedures.
• 5. Keep ScienceRooms clean and tidy; maintain apparatus and equipment, clean and store itemsproperly, and store chemicals appropriately.
• 6. Maintain room-useand breakage logs, remind teachers or student leaders to update them, andcatalogue equipment for easy access.
• 7. Maintain chemicaland equipment inventories, report replenishment needs, assist withOctober/November stocktaking and consolidate monthly purchase claims.
• 8. When laboratoryduties are not required, manage the front desk, greet visitors, parents andstudents, answer enquiries and telephone calls.
