Job summary

Institute of Mental Health in Singapore is seeking a Counsellor on a 1-year contract to provide counselling for call-in patients and triage calls to the IMH Crisisline, supporting 24-hour service coverage on a rotating shift.

The role involves on-site crisis intervention, risk assessments, documentation, referrals to community partners, and collaboration with the Department of Emergency and Crisis Care to ensure safe continuation of care.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree in psychology, nursing, social work or counselling.
• Willing to work on a rotating shift and mobilised for crisis intervention.
• 2–4 years of experience in mental healthcare or counselling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage calls through the IMH Crisisline and triage based on risk.
• Provide onsite crisis intervention and counselling.
• Escort POI to IMH or other hospitals for further treatment as needed.
• Conduct risk and psychosocial assessments.
• Provide psycho-education and refer to community partners.
• Document calls accurately and timely; attend multi-agency case conferences.
