Job summary

The Institute of Mental Health in Singapore seeks a National Mental Health Helpline Counsellor to provide information, support, and crisis triage via calls and webchats in a mental health call centre. You will assess callers, offer resources, identify those at risk, and refer to appropriate services; entry-level candidates with a positive learning attitude are encouraged to apply.

A psychology/ social work/ occupational therapy/ counselling background is required, with willingness to work 24/7

Qualifications

• Degree in Psychology/Social Work/Occupational Therapy/Counselling or Advanced Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
• Preferably with 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience; entry level candidates may apply.
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player with patient-care focus.

Responsibilities

• Handle enquiries via phone and webchat.
• Offer mental health information and resources based on callers’ needs.
• Triage and identify callers at risk and/or refer callers to relevant resources.
• Provide brief intervention as required.
• Handle distress calls.
