Job summary

Edgefield Primary School requires a dedicated Science Lab Assistant to support daily lab activities. You will prepare resources and equipment for science lessons, assist teachers with materials, and keep accurate usage records for labs, resources, and activities.

You will also help maintain the school garden and hydroponics system, ensure sufficient resources for teachers, stock lab equipment, and conduct routine safety checks with the science team.

Qualifications

• GCE O Level or equivalent qualification.
• At least 3 years’ experience as Science Lab Assistant in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare resources / equipment for Science lesson experiments.
• Assist teachers in matters pertaining to resources during lessons.
• Record keeping of the usage of science labs, resources and activities to be completed.
• Assist in maintaining the school garden
• Assist in maintaining the hydroponics system.
• Assist in ensuring that the resources are sufficient for teachers’ usage.
• Assist in ensuring that the science lab equipment is well stocked.
• Assist in maintaining and conducting inventory check on equipment.
• Assist in ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks for all lab users (teachers and students).
• Work closely with Head of Department and Level Head Science in all the above mentioned matters.

Name of Authority: Edgefield Primary School

Contract Period: From 1 Jan 2027 to 31 Dec 2027 (1296 Hours)

Option to extend: From 1 Jan 2028 to 31 Dec 2028(1296 Hours)

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Monday to Friday – 7:30am to 2pm (with 30 mins lunch break)
• Service required from 7.30am to 2pm (with 30 mins lunch break) on certain school holidays (2 days during March holidays, 2 days during Sep holidays, 6 days during Jun holidays and 6 days during Dec holidays)
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holidays, school holidays (except those specified above) and days when school is not operating (eg: PSLE marking days, PSLE Oral and Listening Comprehension, Youth Day, Children’s Day, etc)

Requirements

The Personnel shall have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• At least GCE ‘O’ Level
• At least 3 years’ experience as a Science Lab Assistant in a school environment
