Role:
Engineering Technician (Chemical Industry)
Location and Compensation
- Location: Tuas
- Company Transport / Transport Allowance $120 if candidate travels to work by themselves
- Working hours: Monday to Friday (8am – 5pm); Saturday (8am – 12pm) / Shift Work (Day: 8am – 8pm, Night: 8pm – 8am)
- Basic salary: $1,900 – $2,700 (Entitled to overtime / shift work allowances) + Sign‑on bonus (T&C apply)
Requirements
Minimum NITEC/Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office, email, internet research).
Able to perform overtime/shift work.
Responsibilities
- Work at the distillation process plant to convert spent waste material into product.
- Ensure the distillation process plant operates within safe parameter limits.
- Ensure the safe transfer of flammable material.
- Coordinate closely with the Laboratory for waste/product sampling.
- Follow the SOP and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with the Laboratory & resale team for re‑sell items.
- Ensure sufficient storage capacity and safe handling of stored product.
- Maintain performance and efficiency of the distillation plant regarding recovery yield and utilities consumption.
- Operate startup/shutdown according to SOP.
- Record process data and report deviations.
- Identify and rectify process upsets and equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Work with engineering to resolve equipment issues and implement preventive measures.
- Conduct routine inspections for leaks, spills, and safety hazards. Ensure safe handling of flammable materials.
- Participate in training programs to enhance chemical and safety knowledge.
- Cover the 5S and safety tasks for the department.
