Overview
MachineGames is looking for a World Art Director join our studio!
In this role you will be working in close collaboration with our Creative Director and our other Leads to help bring our visions to life and create amazing worlds that the players can enjoy for many years to come.
To thrive in this role, we believe that you have been in some type of leadership position before where you have had people in direct report to your position and acted as a go-to person and champion for visual representation in the game.
You enjoy overseeing the bigger picture, but you still possess a keen eye for details and finding the little things that will make a great impact to our products.

MachineGames is located in central Uppsala, Sweden which is a small and vibrant city 40 minutes north of the capital Stockholm. It has a historical heritage reaching back to pre-medieval times.

This is a permanent onsite position, starting as soon as possible. We will support your relocation and/or application for work permit if you are not an EU citizen and/or are not currently residing in Sweden.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the creative director and the main art direction for the project.
- Extrapolate, iterate, document, and communicate theWorld Art Direction for the project, in alignment with the overarching Creative Vision, Art Direction and MachineGames' Creative Values
- Daily review the art assets output in alignment with the world art direction and main art direction for the project.
- Ensure that the overall output of the Art Departments (3D art, Environment art, Light and VFX) is of the highest possible AAA quality.
- Actively work to identify short- and long-term needs of the Art department, continuously refining its ways of operation and its values, fostering a positive, productive and rewarding department culture. Make a place where world-class artists thrive and grow!
- Work closely with other departments and directors to ensure that our artistic goals and efforts complement that of the wider development, promoting a collaborative work environment and championing the studio-wide goal of improving our game experiences as a whole.

- Provide leadership and guidance for the world art team.
- Assume supervisory responsibility for your team, and the well-being, performance, and development of its members
Qualifications
- Have proven extensive experience of game art production experience, in a relevant field.
- Have experience from at least one released AAA title credited in a supervisory role.
- Have well-developed art direction skills and a keen ability to give feedback on visual work.
- Have deep understanding of Art principles, 2D and 3D art, design, shapes, composition, lighting and materials.
- Be highly motivated and able to motivate others.
- Be detail-oriented and an effective verbal and written communicator across all levels.
- Have strong proficiency with illustration tools.
- CV and Cover Letter in English.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
