Job summary

Epidemic Sound in Stockholm is seeking a VP of Engineering for Foundational Platform to own the reliability, scalability, and security of our core infrastructure. You will lead five platform teams, shaping a technical vision that serves multiple product areas and enterprise customers.

You will drive the Developer Experience and champion agentic development across the organization, ensuring AI models and agents move from experiment to production with solid MLOps backing.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in platform or infrastructure engineering.
• 15+ years in software engineering with at least 5 in leadership roles managing managers.
• Experience leading at scale (Director/VP/CTO) across multiple teams in a growth company.
• Experience with agentic AI systems in production.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of how platform investments affect velocity, cost, and margins.
• Active use of AI agents in your work and embedding agentic practices in teams.

As VP of Engineering for Foundational Platform, you will own the technical backbone that every product team at Epidemic Sound builds on. Spanning five teams across ML/AI Ops, Developer Experience, Experience Foundations, Data Platform, and Service Infrastructure, this is the role that determines how fast and how confidently our three other product areas, and the engineering teams within them, can move.

The impact of this role is felt everywhere, even if it is rarely visible to the end user. When a product team ships a new feature in days rather than weeks or when an ML model goes from experiment to production without friction, that is your platform making it possible. A significant part of our business serves enterprise customers, and the platform you own is a foundation they depend on, making security, reliability, and trust non-negotiable alongside velocity. You will report to the CTO and work closely with engineering leaders across the organisation to ensure the platform stays ahead of what the business needs, with a particular focus right now on agentic-first service deployment and the infrastructure required to run AI agents in production.

Your Impact

• Own the reliability, scalability, and security of our core infrastructure, including identity and authorisation, ensuring enterprise-grade quality for our customers.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers and their teams across five platform teams, building high-performing groups with sustainable ways of working and clear accountability.
• Set and maintain a technical vision and roadmap that anticipates the needs of our three product areas and drives the platform strategy for the engineering organisation
• Drive the Developer Experience agenda, ensuring engineers across the organisation can build, evolve, and operate services quickly and with confidence.
• Champion agentic development practices across your teams and the broader engineering organisation, ensuring AI models and agents move from experiment to production without friction, with the MLOps infrastructure to back it up.
• Hold clear commercial accountability across the group, with a strong understanding of how platform decisions affect engineering velocity, cost, and gross margin.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders across Epidemic Sound to align platform direction with product needs, and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders on platform investment and outcomes.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in platform or infrastructure engineering, with a strong understanding of developer tooling, cloud-native architectures, and the needs of internal engineering customers.
• At least 15 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 in leadership roles managing managers.
• Proven technical leadership at scale in a role such as Director, VP, or CTO, setting technical direction across multiple teams in a growth-oriented company.
• Experience with agentic AI systems in production.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to translate complex platform topics into clear business outcomes for non-technical audiences.
• A commercial understanding of how platform investment affects engineering velocity, gross margin, cost control, and the ability of the business to ship competitive products.
• You actively use AI agents in your own work and have experience embedding agentic practices into engineering teams.
