Job summary

CITB is seeking a Vetting Specialist to own and shape our end-to-end vetting and safer recruitment framework. You will oversee checks, advise on complex cases, and ensure compliance across the organisation to support a safe learning and working environment.

The role requires strong experience in safeguarding, risk assessment and data protection, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive continuous improvement. Hybrid working with onsite days is offered.

Qualifications

• Significant practical experience of vetting, safer recruitment, or a comparable regulated compliance environment.
• Strong working knowledge of right-to-work requirements, including sponsored workers and limited permission to work.
• Experience interpreting legislation and turning guidance into operational rules and guidance.
• Experience reviewing complex cases and providing evidence-based advice to decision makers.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain CITB's end-to-end vetting framework.
• Oversee right-to-work checks including sponsored workers and time-bound permissions.
• Provide specialist advice on complex or high-risk cases and coordinate risk assessments.
• Maintain the Single Central Record and associated vetting records, ensuring audit readiness.
• Manage sponsorship and renewals, providing management information on compliance and risks.
• Coordinate with Reed and other providers while retaining final vetting accountability.
• Develop guidance and training for administrators and hiring managers; respond to audits and regulatory changes.
• Lead continuous improvement across the vetting and compliance framework.
