Job summary

Hitachi Vantara Corporation in Sweden is seeking a commissioning engineer to work on HVDC systems globally. You will be responsible for commissioning valve cooling systems, ensuring quality, and coordinating between teams.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s in relevant engineering fields, programming experience with PLCs, and must be fluent in English. The position requires extensive travel to various sites, including offshore platforms.

HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a product group in Hitachi Energy that develops, manufactures, and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. It is also used to connect power systems.

The auxiliary commissioning team is a global team under the HVDC construction and commissioning division. The team consists of commissioning engineers in different auxiliary systems such as Aux power, climate/HVAC, fire, and other building services. Your responsibilities

• Responsible for commissioning of HVDC valve cooling system including installation inspection, pump‑motor alignment, filling and pressure test of the system, first energization of the equipment and test of control functions. Reporting quality issues related to system installation and commissioning to the relevant parties.
• Understanding of programming control functions and using the Hitachi Energy specific PLC system.
• Responsible for working with test instructions and test records and using them during commissioning. The role will also consist of both commissioning and coordination work, and you will be the link between the different HVDC departments in Hitachi Energy, suppliers, and the HVDC site.
• Position requires travel (80% of the time on sites) and short‑notice mobilisation requests.
• Commissioning requires the ability to work from height in MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) or boom lifts.

Your background

• Hold a Bachelor's degree within Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Automation, or equivalent through experience.
• Familiar with ladder logic programming and have experience working with PLC.
• Practical and enjoy traveling around the world and working at HVDC sites, including offshore platforms.
• An easy learner with excellent problem‑solving skills and a structured approach to work.
• Strong communicative and collaborative skills, building trust for long‑term business relationships and contributing to a great team spirit.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Having a driving license, being able to learn operating sky lift or scissor lift, and having no fear of working at height is an advantage.
• Experience in other auxiliary systems, such as Aux power and HVAC, will be beneficial.
• Because of the international nature of the role and extended assignments outside Sweden, you must have unrestricted ability to travel and work across Europe for longer periods.
