HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a product group in Hitachi Energy that develops, manufactures, and sells DC transmission systems worldwide. The auxiliary commissioning team is part of the HVDC construction and commissioning division, coordinating commissioning of auxiliary systems such as power, HVAC, fire protection, and other building services.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning of HVDC valve cooling systems, including installation inspection, pump‑motor alignment, filling and pressure testing, first energization, and control function testing; reporting quality issues to relevant parties.
• Understanding programming control functions and using the Hitachi Energy PLC system.
• Using test instructions and records during commissioning; coordinating activities across HVDC departments, suppliers, and the site.
• Travel approximately 80% of the time to sites and responding to short‑notice mobilization requests.
• Working at height using MEWP or boom lifts as required.
• Living the company’s core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for one's actions while caring for colleagues and the business.

Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with ladder logic programming and experience with PLCs is meriting.
• Practical and enjoys traveling globally, including work at HVDC sites and offshore platforms.
• Easy learner with excellent problem‑solving skills and a structured approach to work.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, building trust for long‑term business relationships and contributing to team spirit.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Advantageous to hold a driving licence and be able to operate a sky lift or scissor lift; no fear of working at height.
• Experience with other auxiliary systems such as power or HVAC is beneficial.
• Unrestricted ability to travel and work across Europe for extended periods.
