Qualifications

• A degree in engineering or at least 4 years' experience in related field.
• Minimum 5 years of structural test&verification methodology
• Long documented experience from advanced UAV operation (>10 years).
• Mandatory with at least Specific Category with more than 1000 documented flight hours
• Mandatory experience from BVLOS, mapping, multi copter, fixed wing, VTOL and FPV
• Mandatory experience from DJI UAV ecosystem - Experience in UAV communication protocols and sensor integration.
• Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in teaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment where autonomy and initiative are valued.

Responsibilities

• Verification & Validation: Develop and execute test plans, perform system-level verification, analyze results, and ensure compliance with safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Simulation & Field Testing: Use simulation environments and real-world flight tests to evaluate system behavior, identify issues, and drive improvements.
• System integration support: Support customers to integrate Katam products and services into their own processes and environments.
• Educational Leadership: Develop training materials, workshops, and documentation for external partners and customers. Deliver hands‑on training sessions on and platform operation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless system performance.

About the Role:

We are seeking a UAS Test Engineer to support the development team with general UAS system tests. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring system performance meets defined requirements. The position also includes close collaboration with our customers in terms of product demonstrations and education, including development of technical training and documentation materials. About Katam:

Katam is a green tech startup founded in 2016 in Lund. They provide the forest sector with data to support operational as well as long-term strategic decisions. By using Computer vision, Artificial intelligence, patented algorithms and Katam's forestry expertise, forest data is transformed into valuable decision-making facts for their customers around the world. More precise forest management will increase wood volume growth and production yield. These are key components for reducing CO2 net emission and at same time driving business for the global forest industry.

The team works from the office in Lund, where around 20 people are currently based. In addition to the main office in Sweden, Katam also has a growing presence internationally, with local offices both in Brazil and Indonesia.
