Your future role

The Trackside Engineering Manager holds a key role in overseeing trackside engineering activities within D&IS Sweden. In the realm of Trackside Engineering, the Trackside Manager is responsible for guiding and expanding a team of managers and engineers across two locations: Stockholm and Hässleholm. This position carries the responsibility of developing and enhancing the function within Sweden, ensuring a standardized process, and promoting a consistent approach to work.

The Trackside Engineering Manager actively contributes to the leadership of the Swedish business by participating in the formulation of strategies aligned with D&IS Sweden and the overarching Alstom strategy. The Trackside Manager is tasked with ensuring the efficient delivery of trackside solutions, encompassing both cutting-edge solutions and older ones approaching the end of their lifecycle.

This role plays a crucial part in driving the growth and success of the business through strategic planning and aligning trackside engineering activities with broader organizational objectives.

We’ll look to you for:

Development of Trackside Engineering Function:

  • Develop and expand the Trackside Engineering function within D&IS Sweden
  • Recruit and onboard skilled staff, fostering competence within the domain.

Business Development:

  • Play a pivotal role in generating new business opportunities in Sweden, particularly for upcoming bids.
  • Contribute to the Engineering & Field Operations management team, emphasizing business growth, process improvement, quality, and a structured approach.
  • Ensure adherence to project engineering best practices and facilitate the communication and enforcement of "lessons learned."
  • Standardize project engineering processes and practices to ensure coherence within the Project Engineering function.
  • Manage the trackside engineering project portfolio for Sweden, including performance tracking and reporting.

Capabilities and Strategic Initiatives:

  • Plan and implement long-term strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Drive dialogues with Platform leads in coordination with customer directors to translate customer demands into actionable development initiatives.
  • Maintain strong customer relations at an overall level.

Initiatives for Improvement:

  • Lead development and improvement initiatives for tools, methods, and processes within the engineering domain.

Coordination and Compliance:

  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders on issues affecting engineering delivery activities.
  • Ensure that work is conducted with a primary focus on personal safety.
  • Prepare and execute well-organized schedules for deliveries within projects.

Personnel Qualifications and Compliance:

  • Ensure that personnel involved in projects have sufficient qualifications and authorizations for their tasks.
  • Inform involved personnel about applicable regulations and ensure compliance.

Implementation:

  • Manage the implementation of engineering delivery activities and processes uniformly across contracts.

Bid Support:

  • Provide support for bids to contribute to successful business acquisition.

Educational Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent.

Technical Knowledge/Experience:

  • 5 years or more of experience in Engineering Management or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the Railway, Construction, or Automotive industry.
  • Advanced planning knowledge.
