A leading global outdoor products company located in Huskvarna seeks bachelor students for a thesis project in MRO spare parts supplier management. Engage in mapping supplier data, identifying improvement challenges, and applying procurement models. Ideal for students in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Economics. Submit your application by November 24, 2025. No email applications accepted. This project provides an opportunity to contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives.
We are now looking for bachelor students within Industrial Engineering and Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or any similar field that are interested in doing their thesis project at our Indirect Sourcing department at Husqvarna Group!
Within the MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) area, the subcategory Spare Parts is currently characterized by a highly fragmented supplier base. This makes it challenging to consolidate volumes, achieve cost transparency and work strategically with suppliers. A more structured approach to the spare parts supplier base could improve efficiency, strengthen collaboration and enable long-term sourcing strategies.
The purpose of the thesis is to analyze and structure the current MRO spare parts supplier base and connect the findings to modern procurement strategies. The project should provide a fact-based foundation for better decision-making and highlight opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction and risk management. We encourage students to bring in their own perspectives and ideas on how such a supplier base can be analyzed, classified and managed in a more strategic way.
The thesis will include work such as
Mapping the current supplier base for MRO spare parts (spend, number, type of suppliers).
Identifying challenges and improvement areas related to fragmentation.
Reviewing and applying relevant procurement models (e.g., supplier segmentation, Kraljic matrix, consolidation approaches).
Proposing possible methods for supplier classification and long-term management.
Developing recommendations for how Husqvarna could move forward.
The exact scope and approach will be discussed and shaped together with the students, so that they can contribute with their own ideas and academic perspective.
Bachelor in Industrial Engineering and Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics or another relevant field.
Please send in your application with CV and cover letter no later than 24th November 2025. Due to GDPR, we do not accept applications by email.
