Job summary

SIL seeks a capable full-stack Java developer to design, implement, and maintain applications of moderate complexity. You will work across the stack with Spring Boot on the backend and modern front-end tech, while mentoring juniors and maintaining existing systems.

Applicants should have 3+ years of Java experience, proficiency with REST APIs, Git, and containerised deployments (Kubernetes/Docker). Cloud knowledge (AWS/Azure) is a plus and English/French communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in ICT or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of software development or maintenance experience in Java.
• Experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot).
• Knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of REST APIs and Git or similar version control.
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes/Docker; front-end tech such as Angular/React is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure) is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse, design and program application system of moderate complexity and scale;
• Conduct data analysis and prepare logical database structure;
• To mentor and coach junior resources;
• Assume maintenance responsibility of existing systems;
• Participate in Peer reviews to ensure that programs written comply with approved specifications and standards;
• Assume responsibility for
• the preparation of software documentation and user manuals; and
• the testing and correction of programs;
• Communicate effectively with the project team;
• Perform any other related functions to be assigned by the Project Manager;
• Carry out such acts as shall be required for the proper fulfilling of duties listed under items (i) to (viii) above.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum a bachelor’s degree, preferably in the area of ICT
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in software development or maintenance in using JAVA
• Experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot)
• Knowledge of an RDBMS such as Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of REST APIs
• Knowledge of Git or similar versioning tool
• Implement DevOps pipelines for Continuous Integration and Deployment using Jenkins or other relevant tool
• Knowledge of Kubernetes/Docker
• Ability to work both on the back as well as Front (e.g., Angular/React) is a plus
• Being already knowledgeable about setup of cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Azure is a plus
