Job summary

SIL Mauritius is seeking a senior full-stack software engineer to develop, maintain and optimise full stack applications. You will analyse, design and program systems of moderate complexity, mentor juniors, and maintain existing solutions.

The role requires strong Java/Spring Boot, REST, and modern frontend skills, plus experience with cloud, containers, and databases. You will collaborate with the project team and contribute to documentation and tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ICT or related field.
• 5+ years of software development or maintenance experience in Java.
• Experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot).
• Knowledge of RDBMS such as Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of REST APIs.
• Knowledge of Git or similar versioning tool.
• DevOps pipelines CI/CD using Jenkins.
• Ability to work on backend and frontend (Angular/React).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes/Docker.
• Cloud infrastructure knowledge with AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Analyse, design and program application systems of moderate complexity and scale.
• Conduct data analysis and prepare logical database structures.
• Mentor and coach junior resources.
• Maintain existing systems and assume responsibility for maintenance.
• Participate in peer reviews to ensure compliance with specs and standards.
• Prepare software documentation and user manuals; test and correct programs.
• Communicate effectively with the project team.
• Perform other related functions as assigned by the Project Manager.
