Owision AB is seeking a Technical Tester / QA Automation Engineer in a hybrid role based in Sweden. You will lead end-to-end automation across distributed microservices, building robust Java-based frameworks and validating Kafka-driven workflows.

Qualifications

• Professional experience as a Technical Tester, QA Automation Engineer, or SDET focusing on backend and automation.
• Strong Java background and experience building automation frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, REST Assured).
• Expertise in Event-Driven Architecture, testing Kafka messages, schemas, offsets and consumer behavior.
• Understanding of Microservices and validating integration points across distributed systems.
• Proficiency in CI/CD and DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and Git version control.
• Fluent in Swedish and English for technical communication.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills for fast-paced environments.
• Experience with Selenium and Cucumber (BDD) for UI automation is a plus.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud and resilience testing tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute end-to-end automation strategy for distributed systems and microservices.
• Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test frameworks in Java.
• Validate event-driven flows with Kafka: producers, consumers, topics, sequencing.
• Perform deep-dive API testing and backend validation with REST Assured and Postman.
• Test system resilience: retries, error handling, and failure scenarios.
• Embed automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Collaborate with developers, architects, and product owners to enforce quality standards.
• Track defects and contribute to test data management and service virtualization.
• Support Agile/Scrum ceremonies and quality-driven development pace.
• Communicate quality metrics clearly to stakeholders in English and Swedish.

Technical Tester / QA Automation Engineer

• Lead and execute the end-to-end automation strategy for modern, distributed systems and microservices-based applications.
• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable automated test frameworks using Java to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Validate event-driven flows using Apache Kafka, specifically overseeing the testing of producers, consumers, topics, and complex message sequencing.
• Perform deep-dive API testing and backend validation using tools such as REST Assured and Postman to ensure data consistency across layers.
• Verify system resilience by testing retries, error handling, and failure scenarios within complex distributed environments.
• Support CI/CD integration by embedding automated test suites into build and deployment pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and product owners, to define rigorous quality standards.
• Identify and mitigate risks by proactively tracking defects and contributing to test data management and service virtualization.
• Facilitate Agile/Scrum ceremonies, providing expert quality input to maintain a high-velocity and stable development pace.
• Communicate technical quality metrics and project readiness clearly to stakeholders in both English and Swedish.

Qualifications:

• Professional experience as a Technical Tester, QA Automation Engineer, or SDET with a focus on backend and automation.
• Strong technical foundation in Java and deep experience building automation frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, REST Assured).
• Expertise in Event-Driven Architecture, specifically hands‑on experience testing Kafka messages, schemas, offsets, and consumer behavior.
• Comprehensive understanding of Microservices and the ability to validate integration points across distributed systems.
• Proficiency in CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery models and experience working with Git for version control.
• Fluent in Swedish and English, with the ability to navigate professional and technical environments in both languages.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills, with a proven ability to solve complex problems in fast-paced settings.
• Experience with Selenium and Cucumber (BDD) for UI-level automation is a significant advantage.
• Knowledge of modern infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud) and resilience testing tools is highly preferred.
