Job summary

ABB AB i Malmö söker en erfaren Technical Support Manager som kan stödja ABB:s automationsplattformar och säkerställa att kritiska system fungerar pålitligt. Du kommer att arbeta nära produktledning, utveckling och serviceingenjörer samt kunder för att lösa komplexa tekniska problem, dokumentera lösningar och bidra till produktförbättringar.

Du har erfarenhet av processautomation, kännedom om System 800xA och industriella nätverk samt språkkunskaper i svenska och engelska.

Qualifications

• Erfarenhet av processautomation, systemtjänst, underhåll eller commissioning.
• Kännedom om System 800xA, AC 800M, S800 I/O och Select I/O samt teknologier som Microsoft-plattformar, virtualisering.
• Kunskap om Ethernet-baserad kommunikation och industriella protokoll som OPC UA, MMS, PROFINET, PROFIBUS och Modbus TCP.
• Nyfiken och vilja att lära nya verktyg och teknologier över tid.
• Samarbetsförmåga och ansvarstagande.
• Flytande svenska och engelska i tal och skrift.

Responsibilities

• Stödja ABB:s front‑end-organisationer i användning av ABB Ability System 800xA och Automation Extended med fokus på kontroll, I/O och kommunikation.
• Diagnostisera och felsöka tekniska problem, inklusive utvärdering av felbeskrivningar, analysera loggfiler och fjärrdiagnostik.
• Samarbeta med tvärfunktionella team för att åtgärda komplexa problem och förbättra produkter.
• Bidra till diagnostiska verktyg och guider.
• Besöka kundens platser då och då för felsökning eller systemhälsokontroller.
• Hålla egen kunskap uppdaterad och delta i tekniska diskussioner med möjlighet att planera egen arbetsdag.

Technical Support Manager

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will take on a central role supporting ABB’s automation platforms used across the Energy, Process and Marine sectors. Your expertise will help keep mission‑critical systems running reliably and efficiently, and you will be a key technical partner to teams across ABB’s global organization.

In your role, you will handle complex technical challenges across the full system lifecycle from design and testing to installation, commissioning and long‑term operation. Your work will involve close day‑to‑day collaboration with local project teams, service engineers, specialists, Product Management and R&D. You will also interact directly with customers, giving you a firsthand understanding of how your work supports real industrial operations.

This is a role for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, finding the root cause of problems and working with others to find solutions. The team is located in Malmö, Sweden.

Your Role and Responsibilities

You will play a key role in supporting ABB’s automation platforms, ensuring that mission‑critical systems operate reliably.

In this role, you will:

• Support ABB’s front‑end organizations in using ABB’s DCS systems ABB Ability™ System 800xA and Automation Extended evolution with focus on Control, I/O & Communication.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including evaluating problem descriptions, analyzing log files, performing remote diagnostics and reproducing issues in lab.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Product Management, Product Development, and ABB front‑end organizations, to address complex technical issues and improve products.
• Contribute to product supportability by helping shape diagnostic tools, logging mechanisms and technical guides.
• Visit customer sites occasionally to help troubleshoot complex issues or perform system health checks.
• Keep your knowledge up to date, join technical discussions and influence how we work with the flexibility to plan your own day.

Your Background

• Experience in process automation, system service, maintenance or commissioning or a related technical education.
• Knowledge of System 800xA, AC 800M, S800 I/O and Select I/O and technologies like Microsoft platforms, virtualization.
• Knowledge of Ethernet-based communication and Industrial protocols such as OPC UA, MMS, PROFINET, PROFIBUS and Modbus TCP.
• Curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies over time.
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to take responsibility for your work.
• Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
