Responsibilities Make an impactWe are looking for a Technical Lead in Controls Software who enjoys helping people grow while staying closely to the technology. You will lead a small team and spend roughly half your time hands on in realization projects and, when needed, commissioning on site. Your technical knowledge will be a daily support to the team and to live sites. You will motivate the team, plan resources across projects, and keep communication open with colleagues in different departments at Swisslog and across regions. You will allocate tasks, follow up on progress, and make it easy for the team to do excellent work. This role does not include formal personnel responsibility, but you will set the pace day to day, nurture a supportive team culture, and help people perform at their best while keeping plans on track.
- Lead and motivate a small controls team of approx. 6 team members, set clear goals, and keep a steady pace.
- Plan resources and prioritize work across projects, keeping plans and tools current and easy to follow.
- Match team capacity to demand, allocate tasks, and remove blockers early.
- Be the first technical contact for Sales, Technology & Software, and other departments across regions.
- Contribute hands on to realization projects and support commissioning when needed.
- Review software and other technical documentations.
- Keep processes, instructions, and guidelines practical and up to date.
- Coordinate with Production, Test, Site, and Customer Service to meet agreed support time frames.
- Keep information flowing by sharing key updates with the team and your manager.
Application Requirements
What you need to succeed
- A degree in Automation Engineering or a similar field, with a university Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Five to seven years of engineering experience; intralogistics exposure is a plus.
- Strong automation and PLC programming skills, ideally Siemens TIA Portal with Structured Text or Function Blocks.
- Solid hardware understanding across sensors, motors, control systems, and system integration.
- Experience leading a team or workstream without formal personnel responsibility.
- A coaching style that motivates, sets clear priorities, and builds trust.
- Clear, timely communication with stakeholders across departments and regions.
- Calm, structured handling of plans, priorities, and escalations.
- Fluent English; additional languages are welcome.
