The ideal candidate has solid Linux experience, scripting skills, and an interest in HPC. The position includes responsibilities like automation and development of new services, among others. This permanent role offers flexible working hours and opportunities for professional growth.
LUNARC is the centre for high‑performance computing (HPC), visualisation, and storage at Lund University. We provide advanced computing and data services to researchers across all faculties of the university, including science, engineering, medicine, economics, humanities and social sciences. We operate modern HPC clusters, visualisation resources and advanced storage systems, and continuously develop new services for interactive and data‑driven research. Our environment includes both traditional HPC infrastructure and modern platforms for container‑based and cloud‑adjacent workflows.
As a Swedish government agency, Lund University offers attractive employment terms, generous vacation benefits, favourable pension schemes, flexible working hours, and the option to work partly remotely. At LUNARC, you will join a dedicated team with strong technical expertise and real opportunities to influence technology choices and ways of working. We place great importance on professional development and offer both internal and external training.
We are now looking for a systems engineer who wants to help develop the next generation of high‑performance research infrastructure for computing, visualisation, and storage. This role suits someone with a strong background in Linux and infrastructure who enjoys working at the intersection of HPC, DevOps, and modern platform operations. You will combine operational work with development‑focused tasks in close collaboration with the rest of the team, and work closely with researchers to help them make the best use of LUNARC’s resources.
The tasks range from operational support to the development of new services and close collaboration with researchers and users. The role includes both daily infrastructure operations and long‑term development of LUNARC’s technical platforms.
You do not need extensive prior experience with HPC, but you must have experience with Linux‑based infrastructures, automation or modern platform operations, as well as a willingness to develop within HPC and research infrastructure.
The position is permanent and full‑time (100%). A probationary period may apply. Start date according to the agreement. The position title will be Systems Engineer.
