Job summary

Alfa Laval Mid Europe GmbH in Lund seeks a Software Developer for R&D Digitalization to turn data into smarter engineering solutions. You will build, test, and deploy internal tools and data pipelines, design data models, and own test frameworks to support heat exchanger performance calculations.

Based in Lund, you will collaborate closely with R&D engineers in Sweden and Italy, work with Azure DevOps, cloud deployments, and modern programming languages.

Qualifications

• Solid software engineering experience with modern languages and clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with data models, pipelines and structured data for engineering use.
• Proficiency in C++, .NET, SQL and Python; cloud deployments and DevOps practices are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy internal tools and infrastructure for engineering workflows.
• Design data models and pipelines to provide reliable, structured data for R&D and ML readiness.
• Own test frameworks and improve existing algorithms and applications.
• Collaborate with IT for hosting, security, and deployment in cloud environments.

As digitalization becomes increasingly important to our work, we are establishing a new function dedicated to digital solutions and data infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to become our first dedicated software hire and help shape the function from the ground up.Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will work closely with R&D engineers based in Sweden and Italy, turning data and digital technology into smarter, more effective engineering solutions.Key responsibilities for this role entail:Build, test, and deploy internal tools and infrastructure around the software we use to calculate heat exchanger performance.Design data models and pipelines that give R&D reliable, well-structured data, laying the foundation for future machine learning work.Work closely with engineers to understand their workflows, gather feedback, and keep improving the tools.Own the test frameworks and improve existing algorithms and applications.Collaborate with our IT department, which supports hosting, security, and deployment.In your first year, you might: make our performance calculations into tested, version-controlled software that R&D engineers in both locations can use and rely on.You will be based in Lund and will report to the head of R&D BU BFB.What You KnowSolid software engineering experience, including clean writing, maintainable code, testing and version control.Strong development skills in C++, .NET and SQL.Proficiency in Python.Experience with Azure, CI/CD in Azure DevOps and cloud deployments.Knowledge of data modelling and relational databases.Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.It Would Be an Advantage If You HaveExperience or an interest in machine learning.Knowledge of Python packaging and distribution.Experience working in an agile development environment.Strong interest in engineering, technology, or physical products.Who you areYou are a collaborative and open-minded team player who listens actively, supports colleagues, and enjoys sharing knowledge.
