Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled mainframe developer to design, build, and optimize COBOL/JCL-based applications on IBM z/OS. You will troubleshoot production issues, manage batch workflows, and support modernization initiatives in a banking-related context.

The role requires strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork, with experience in COBOL, DB2, JCL, IMS, and z/OS. A degree in computer science or engineering is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mainframe development.
• Experience with IBM z/OS in a batch processing environment.
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, DB2, DL/I, JCL and IMS.
• Understanding of mainframe batch processing and tools like ChangeMan, OPC, FAN.
• Familiarity with incident handling, root cause analysis, and production support.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Basic knowledge on .NET and Visual Basic with mainframe integration an advantage.
• Structured troubleshooting and documentation approach.
• Able to work closely with application teams, operations, and infrastructure specialists.
• Experience in banking or financial services domain.
