Job summary

Coalesce Management Consulting (CMC) invites an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a project developing, integrating and validating in-house automotive body controllers. You will work in a real-time embedded environment across body control, sensor systems and motor control, contributing from implementation to vehicle-level validation.

Coalesce Management Consulting (CMC) has a consulting assignment available for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support the development, integration and validation of in-house body controllers within the automotive industry.

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support the implementation, integration and debugging of both low-level and application-level software for in-house automotive body controllers.

The assignment will involve working in a real-time embedded environment, contributing to software development across areas including body control, comfort functions, sensor systems and motor control.

The successful consultant will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, supporting the development and integration of embedded software from implementation through to vehicle-level validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively support the implementation, integration and debugging of low-level and application-level embedded software using C.
• Develop and integrate software for in-house body controllers.
• Support the implementation and validation of automotive sensor and actuator systems.
• Work across areas such as:
• Parking sensor systems: Implement LIN communication with parking sensors, develop application software for data processing, integrate the system into the vehicle, and perform vehicle-level validation and calibration.
• Motor control: Implement encoder-based position sensing and closed-loop position control, including system-specific functionality for automated mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot embedded software issues across both low-level and application-level software.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, controls and vehicle engineering teams.
• Review technical requirements, schematics and component datasheets to support software development and integration.
• Contribute to software quality, maintainability, performance and technical documentation.
• Support system integration, testing, debugging and vehicle-level validation activities.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in embedded software engineering using C.
• Strong experience developing and troubleshooting both low-level and high-level embedded software in a real-time environment.
• Strong embedded systems debugging skills.
• High standards for clean, maintainable and high-performance code.
• Experience with Git or a similar version control system.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional engineering teams.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Good understanding of reading electrical schematics and component datasheets.
• M.Sc. in Computer Science, Control Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
• Experience with C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of how automotive systems, vehicles and their components operate.
• Experience with CAN, LIN and similar automotive communication protocols.
• Experience with automotive diagnostics, tools and industry standards.
• Experience working with ISO 26262 applications.
• Experience with small electric motors, motor control or position-control systems.
• Experience integrating embedded software into complete vehicle systems.
• Experience through an organised student engineering project, such as Formula Student, or a similar hands-on development environment.
