Job summary

MacGregor seeks a Service Engineer to join the Global Services Division in Sweden. The role involves performing repairs on critical marine equipment and working onboard vessels or shipyards globally, reporting to the Operations Superintendent in Sweden.

Travel to client sites is required, with emphasis on quality, safety, and meeting service goals. The ideal candidate has a mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, or electronics engineering background and at least 2 years in related fields.

Qualifications

  • Technical education with a degree in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, or electronics engineering. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of education, ideally in the maritime or shipping industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience is required, ideally within a Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Marine, Military, or Heavy engineering field.
  • Skilled in writing reports and technical documentation using digital tools.
  • Willingness to travel is essential.
  • Proficient in English both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Supervise and perform the refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions
  • Repairing and maintaining MacGregor’s equipment
  • Identify service and spares sales opportunities and communicate them to the line manager to support all activities
  • Complete documentation of the work performed
  • Preparing detailed service reports and documentation for all work performed
  • Coach/tutor junior colleagues as necessary

This is an opportunity for a hands-on expert, who will be responsible for performing repairs on critical marine equipment, including MacGregor and third-party products. Your focus on quality and safety will be essential to keeping our customers' vessels moving and hitting our service goals.

We are looking for a candidate with previous experience within the shipping sector working with products such as hatch covers, ramps, winches, cranes and steering gears, but not limited to.

The position is part of our Global Services Division, located in Göteborg. However the work is performed onboard vessels or shipyards globally. You will report to the Operation Superintendent based in Sweden.

This position requires travel to client sites, vessels, or shipyards worldwide. As our clients are spread across the globe, flexibility and the ability to work overtime and on weekends are part of the job.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

As a person you are customer-oriented, cooperative, and have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively share information within the team. The role requires problem-solving skills, which are essential for maintaining effective working relationships with customers and colleagues.
