GKN Aerospace is seeking a Senior Thermal Analysis Engineer to strengthen our Analysis team and advance thermal simulation for next-generation civil aerospace products. You will predict thermal behaviour of aero-engine components and collaborate across design, aerodynamics, structures and systems engineering to optimize performance.

You will lead advanced analyses, develop methods, and coordinate activities while ensuring rigorous solutions and cross-functional impact in a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical/Aerospace focus or related field.
  • Several years of aerospace, gas turbine development or related advanced engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and thermal management in complex systems.
  • Extensive experience in thermal analysis, numerical simulation and engineering modelling.
  • Experience with ANSYS and Python.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English.

  • Provide advanced expertise in thermal analysis and thermodynamics for civil aerospace projects.

Job Summary

Do you have deep expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer and thermal simulation? We are looking for a Senior Thermal Analysis Engineer to strengthen our Analysis team and support the development of next-generation civil aerospace products.


In this role, you will be a key contributor in understanding and predicting the thermal behaviour of advanced aero-engine components and systems. Through high-fidelity simulation and engineering analysis, you will help optimize thermal performance, component durability and overall engine efficiency. Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate with specialists across design, aerodynamics, structures and systems engineering to solve complex technical challenges and support the development of sustainable aerospace technologies.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Thermal Analysis Engineer, you will provide advanced expertise in thermal analysis and thermodynamics across a broad range of civil aerospace development projects.


You will analyze and predict the thermal behaviour of advanced aero-engine components and systems, using ANSYS and internally developed simulation tools to support design optimization, product verification and engineering decision-making. Working closely with specialists in design, aerodynamics, structures, materials and engine performance, you will help solve complex multidisciplinary engineering challenges.


As a senior member of the team, you will also drive method development, coordinate analysis activities and contribute to the continuous advancement of thermal simulation capabilities.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing advanced thermal and thermodynamic analyses, including heat transfer simulations and assessment of thermal loads in aerospace applications.
  • Evaluating the interaction between thermal behaviour, engine performance and structural integrity to support design optimisation and product development.
  • Providing technical leadership through coordination of analysis activities, method development and cross-functional collaboration with engineering stakeholders.
Qualifications & Personal Skills
Required Qualifications
  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics or a related engineering discipline.
  • Several years of experience within aerospace, gas turbine development or other advanced engineering industries.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and thermal management in complex engineering systems.
  • Extensive experience in thermal analysis, numerical simulation and engineering modelling.
  • Experience working with ANSYS and Python.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to different stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
