Job summary

ABB Marine & Ports in Västerås, Sweden, seeks a Senior R&D Engineer to lead development of advanced marine solutions and drive IT/OT infrastructure projects. You will collaborate across disciplines, document designs and results, and contribute to IP strategy while delivering secure and high‑quality systems.

The role requires 5+ years' experience in IT/OT infrastructure, strong knowledge of Windows/Linux, virtualization, containerization, and cloud platforms, plus DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years IT/OT infrastructure experience in roles such as Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, Technical Specialist or Solution Architect.
• Experience designing, implementing and managing IT/OT infrastructure including server platforms, virtualization, containerization, industrial networks and cybersecurity.

• Maintain recognized expertise by integrating latest developments in technologies, tools and methodologies.
• Find new ways of solving problems by forming hypotheses and validating them.
• Document work results to allow others to maintain and improve them.

Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, Ansible and source control tools such as Git is considered an advantage.You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and collaborating with stakeholders across functions to deliver secure, reliable and high-quality solutions.You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken.
