Job summary

ABB Marine & Ports i Västerås söker en Senior R&D Engineer som leder utvecklingen av avancerade marina lösningar. Du arbetar över funktioner och bidrar till en banbrytande teknologi som minskar utsläpp och ökar säkerhet i olika fartygs- och hamnområden.

Kandidaten har minst 5 års erfarenhet av industriell automation och styrsystem, samt kunskap om PLC, SCADA, HMI, inbyggda system och nätverk. Engelska flytande krävs; svenska ses som en fördel.

Qualifications

• Minst 5 års erfarenhet av industriell automation och styrsystem.
• God erfarenhet av PLC, SCADA, HMI och inbyggda system.
• Examen i Automation Engineering eller relaterat område.
• Erfarenhet av projektledning och agila arbetssätt.
• Flytande engelska; svenska ses som fördel.

Responsibilities

• Leda och driva utvecklingsprojekt inom maritim automation.
• Samarbeta över funktioner och styra projektrelaterade risker.
• Dokumentera arbete och bidra till IP-generering.
• Delta i IP-strategiutveckling.

Your Role And Responsibilities

As a Senior R&D Engineer, you'll drive the development of advanced marine solutions, collaborate with experts across disciplines, and help deliver technologies that shape the future of sustainable shipping.

You Will Be Mainly Accountable For

• Maintaining recognized expertise in a specific area by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies into your work.
• Finding new ways of solving problems by following your ideas, creating hypotheses, and defining ways to validate them.
• Documenting work results (like findings, designs, or software), allowing others to maintain and improve them.
• Understanding and initiating IP generation in your area of specialization and participating in the project IP strategy development.

Qualifications For The Role

• You have at least 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems, working as an R&D Project Manager, Automation Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, Technical Lead or in a similar role.
• You have solid experience with automation platforms and technologies such as PLC, SCADA, HMI, embedded systems, system integration and industrial communication networks.
• You hold a degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• You have a good understanding of control system architecture, industrial communication protocols, cybersecurity principles and the validation of complex technical solutions.
• You have experience of project management, requirements management, risk management, product development processes and agile ways of working. Experience with DevOps practices and software lifecycle management is considered an advantage.
• You are passionate about technology and innovation, with a proven ability to lead projects, collaborate across functions and manage stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
• You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken. Swedish language skills are considered an advantage.
