Job summary

Avalanche Studios Group in Stockholm is seeking a Senior World Designer to architect an immersive open world, shaping landscapes, biomes, landmarks, roads and rivers for engaging exploration and gameplay. You will translate high-level design into actionable features while balancing creative vision with production constraints.

You will work with Art, Tech, and Level Design to refine world-building, ensure scope clarity, and optimise workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience as a World Designer, preferably on open-world games.
• Ability to plan large-scale spaces and execute terrain edits.
• Strong collaboration with Art, Tech and Level Design teams.
• Proactive ownership with multi-hat responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Own a large subset of the world and lead overall environment design and simple activities.
• Plan regions, terrain edits, roads, waterways, and placement of POIs and landmarks to meet gameplay metrics.
• Collaborate with Lead, Product Owner and other teams to align design with project vision.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve workflows in tools and content pipelines.
