Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Sweden seeks a Senior Mechanical Plant Design Engineer based in Ludvika or Västerås to lead mechanical plant design activities for complex HVDC projects, ensuring high‑quality multidisciplinary coordination.

You will develop robust, cost‑effective technical solutions aligned with customer requirements, contracts, budgets and schedules, and drive engineering deliverables while supporting testing, installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical plant design with documents and concepts aligned to customer needs and standards.
• Knowledge of electrical power transformation systems is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Experience or interest in 3D modeling of equipment layouts and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Experience and/or knowledge in BIM coordination with external and internal partners.
• Familiarity with cost estimates and engineering hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical plant design activities for complex HVDC projects with multidisciplinary coordination.
• Develop robust, cost‑effective technical solutions meeting customer requirements, contracts, budgets and schedules.
• Drive engineering deliverables and provide technical support during testing, installation and commissioning.
• Ensure safety, quality and risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare work plans, cost estimates and schedules; support scope and budget reviews.
• Collaborate with project teams, tender teams, customers, contractors and suppliers.
• Independently manage technical activities with limited supervision.
• Mentor and review junior engineers and contribute to technical development.
