Job summary

Vallum Associates seeks Mechanical Engineers at Junior, Senior and Lead levels to join an established international engineering team based in Porto, Portugal, supporting large-scale data centre and mission-critical projects.

You will work on complex multidisciplinary projects involving HVAC, cooling, piping, pumps and thermal systems, collaborating with engineering and project teams across multiple international locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling, piping, pumps and thermal systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks or similar engineering design software.
• Experience in data centres, industrial, commercial or infrastructure projects is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems including HVAC, cooling, piping, pumps and thermal systems.
• Prepare calculations, schematics, drawings and technical documentation.
• Coordinate designs with Electrical, Structural, Civil and other disciplines.
• Lead design activities and mentor junior engineers for Senior/Lead roles.
• Support project delivery and client coordination.
• Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.

Mechanical Engineer – Junior / Senior / Lead

About the Role

We are seeking Mechanical Engineers at Junior, Senior and Lead levels to join an established international engineering team based in Porto, Portugal, supporting the design and delivery of large-scale data centre and mission-critical projects.

You will work on complex, multidisciplinary projects involving HVAC, cooling systems, piping, pumps, machinery and thermal systems, collaborating with engineering and project teams across multiple international locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems including HVAC, cooling, piping, pumps and thermal systems.
• Prepare and validate mechanical calculations, schematics, drawings and technical documentation.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with Electrical, Structural, Civil and other engineering disciplines.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant ASME, ISO, ASHRAE and local standards.
• Participate in design reviews, technical coordination meetings and risk assessments.
• Support project delivery, technical documentation and client coordination.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and international engineering teams.
• For Senior and Lead-level positions, mentor junior engineers, lead design activities, manage project deliverables and provide technical leadership.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• 5–10 years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong experience delivering large-scale and technically complex projects.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership, managing deliverables and leading engineering teams.

All Levels

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling, piping, pumps and thermal systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks or similar engineering design software.
• Good knowledge of ASME, ISO and ASHRAE standards.
• Experience within data centres, industrial, commercial, infrastructure or other complex engineering environments is highly desirable.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international project teams.
