The Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Design Manager to join the delivery team on a major data centre development in Sweden.
This is a key project position responsible for leading and coordinating multidisciplinary design activities throughout the project lifecycle, from early-stage design through construction and execution.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, architects, consultants, contractors and project stakeholders to ensure design solutions are technically robust, commercially viable, constructible and aligned with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary design process across Architectural, Structural, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.
- Manage design activities from early-stage development through detailed design, construction and project delivery.
- Coordinate closely with engineers, architects, consultants, contractors and internal project teams.
- Monitor design programmes, key milestones, deliverables and deadlines.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, design packages and associated documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant Nordic and European standards, regulations and project requirements.
- Manage interfaces between CSA, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines to ensure effective design integration.
- Drive design coordination meetings, technical reviews and workshops.
- Identify design risks, clashes and potential constructability issues at an early stage and coordinate appropriate solutions.
- Support the optimisation of design solutions with a focus on efficiency, scalability, resilience and performance.
- Work closely with construction and project delivery teams to ensure designs are practical and aligned with site requirements.
- Manage communication between key stakeholders and ensure technical requirements are clearly understood and incorporated into the design.
- Support design change management and ensure changes are effectively communicated across relevant disciplines.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, programme and successful project execution.
Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Approximately 8–10+ years' experience within design, engineering or design management.
- Proven experience managing and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong understanding of Architectural, Structural and MEP design coordination.
- Previous experience within data centres, mission-critical facilities or other technically complex construction projects would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, potentially including ASHRAE, EN 50600, Uptime Institute and TIA.
- Experience working with AutoCAD, Revit and/or BIM platforms.
- Experience working within international, fast-paced construction or engineering environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple design packages, priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
