Plagazi AB in Gothenburg seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to lead project financing, capital structuring, and funding strategies for its waste-to-x initiatives. You will work closely with the CFO to attract private capital and ensure finance readiness for multi-year EPC projects.
The role requires a strong track record in financial modelling, stakeholder management, and communicating complex financials to investors. Based in Gothenburg with flexible hybrid work options.
Plagazi is a waste-to-x project developer and technology provider with the mission to decarbonize industry and the energy system. Plagazi was founded in 2008 and completed its first major funding round in 2022 raising more than 50 MSEK. Plagazi owns the Patented Plagazi Process® that deploys plasma gasification technology to convert non-recyclable waste into hydrogen whilst capturing carbon dioxide (CO2). In October 2024, Plagazi was selected to receive a grant by the EU innovation fund to support Plagazi’s flagship project in Sweden.
By 2027, it is our ambition to deploy our first commercial project in Gävle, Sweden to decarbonise local industry and leverage carbon capture, utilisation & storage (CCUS) to avoid greenhouse gas emissions.
We are looking for a motivated, purpose-driven individual to join our growing & diverse organisation. Our people are encouraged to learn in a flexible environment that values everyone for their contributions. We are building a company that revolutionises waste management and sustainable fuels (inc. hydrogen) production practices – one project at a time.
As a Senior Financial Analyst at Plagazi, you will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) working very closely with the full C-level management. Your main responsibilities will include the structuring & execution of project financing (equity, debt, public funding) and ensuring financial viability along the project phases in the EPC-project development model.
You will capitalise on the EU innovation fund grant to attract private capital considering financing needs, thoroughly defined timelines and project risk profiles. In addition, you will institutionalise the fund-raising process establishing a blueprint for future projects.
Our stakeholder groups are diverse and have different requirements, so you are expected to understand value creation holistically – including but not limited to financial value. Strong financial modelling skills are the ‘bread & butter’ to succeed in this role.
The role requires a financial mindset with the ability to translate financial insights into commercial & contractual actions. The ideal candidate has a good understanding how project ‘bankability’ is achieved with a prior track-record of converting PowerPoint slides into real projects.
This is a unique opportunity to leave a mark on a start-up with ambitious plans to become one of the leading waste-to-x players in Europe. It will require you to be proactive and ‘roll up your sleeves’ to dive into details whilst not losing focus of the bigger picture.
If you are passionate about leaving a lasting impact on our society by advancing industrial decarbonization, Plagazi offers a unique opportunity to become part of a purpose-driven & ambitious team, where you can have real impact.
You will get the opportunity to shape your own career development by working with a cross-functional team within the dynamic climate tech environment. You will be based in our HQ, located in downtown Gothenburg with flexible work-from-home options.
Plagazi is an equal-opportunity employer, where everybody can thrive and feel like they are working on something meaningful for people and the planet. For any questions on the role, please get in touch with our CFO, Leonard Kemper ( leonard.kemper@plagazi.com )
