Grale is building a sustainable material platform in Stockholm and seeks a Chief Financial Officer to own and shape the finance function. As the first dedicated finance hire, you will build the structure, processes and models to support rapid growth, fundraising and strategic decisions.

You will partner with the founders and management, run budgeting, cash flow, reporting, and investor relations, and ultimately scale the finance organisation as Grale expands globally from its Stockholm base.

Qualifikationen

• Broad experience in finance, accounting or business controlling, preferably from startup or high-growth environment.

Are you looking for a life-time opportunity? At Grale, we are building the next generation sustainable material platform to replace plastics globally. As we scale rapidly, we’re looking for an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to take ownership of and shape our finance function.

As our first dedicated finance hire, you will have a high level of ownership and influence over how finance supports our growth, from building the right financial structure and processes to supporting strategic decisions and fundraising. You will work closely with our founders and management team, combining hands‑on financial work with strategic focus to support growth.

Role description

As Chief Financial Officer, you will own and develop Grale’s finance function, with responsibility for the company’s financial strategy, planning and reporting. You will act as a strategic partner to the founders and management team, supporting both day‑to‑day financial management and long‑term business decisions.

The role combines hands‑on financial work with strategic responsibility. In the beginning, you will play an active role in establishing processes, systems, reporting structures and financial models. As Grale scales, you will further develop the function and build the finance organisation to support a growing business.

You will play a central role in ensuring that Grale has the financial visibility, structure and capital needed to scale successfully. This includes working closely with the founders on business planning, fundraising, investments and major strategic decisions.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Own and develop Grale’s financial strategy and overall finance function, ensuring finance is aligned with the company’s commercial and strategic goals

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial modelling, providing clear visibility into performance, runway and future scenarios

• Build and develop scalable financial processes, systems and reporting structures, identifying tools and ways of working needed as Grale grows

• Provide financial insights, analysis and recommendations to the founders and management team, supporting strategic and commercial decision‑making

• Lead and support fundraising activities, including financial models, budgets, investor materials, analysis and due diligence

• Manage Investor Relations and financial reporting to investors and the Board, ensuring clear and reliable communication of financial performance

• Oversee accounting, audit, tax, compliance and financial risk management, working closely with external accounting, legal and other financial partners

• Continuously identify opportunities to improve financial performance, efficiency and ways of working, while building the finance organisation as Grale continues to scale

What you bring:

• Several years of broad experience within finance, financial management, accounting or business controlling, with a strong understanding of the full finance function and its processes. Preferably from a startup, scale‑up or other high‑growth environment.

• Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and financial analysis

• Experience with fundraising and a solid understanding of different financing and financial instruments

• Strong understanding of accounting, financial reporting, cash flow and financial controls

• Experience working closely with founders, management teams, investors or other senior stakeholders

• A strong commercial mindset and ability to translate financial data into clear business decisions

• Hands‑on, entrepreneurial and comfortable taking ownership and building in an evolving environment

• Fluent in both English and Swedish, spoken and written
