Job summary

Design Consulting GmbH is seeking an experienced Exterior / Interior Studio Engineer to support developing technically feasible vehicle designs at an automotive design studio in Sweden. Qualifications

• More than 10 years of professional experience in the automotive industry.
• Technical university degree or equivalent qualification.
• Strong knowledge of complete-vehicle engineering for both interiors and exteriors.
• Understanding of the complete vehicle-development process.
• Experience in automotive product concepts and component engineering.
• Experience in aesthetically sensitive vehicle areas.
• Previous experience in an automotive design studio is highly desirable.
• Advanced knowledge of CATIA V5, including solid and surface modelling.
• Strong experience with Teamcenter as an author.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and Jira.
• Understanding of engineering and validation processes for vehicle components and systems.
• Knowledge of component manufacturing processes, tooling requirements and lead times.
• Leadership skills and the ability to take responsibility within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Mandarin would be an advantage.
• Occasional business travel to Asia.
• Candidates must be eligible to obtain the necessary business-travel visa

Responsibilities

• Represent the design team and communicate its intent and technical needs within engineering
• Translate engineering requirements and constraints into viable design solutions
• Explain key technical and legislative requirements to the design team
• Develop feasible solutions for technically challenging interior and exterior areas
• Coordinate and document agreements between design and engineering
• Support vehicle development while preserving the intended design direction
• Assess and document the feasibility of design themes
• Identify and upscale critical technical issues
• Support the setup of clay models, including ride height, wheel positioning and seating positions
• Collaborate with cross-functional design, engineering and validation teams
