Job summary

Sumitomo Electric is seeking an Exterior/Interior Studio Engineer for a contract position in Gothenburg, Sweden. You will act as the voice of design, translating engineering requirements into design options and driving development within a studio setting.

You will collaborate across teams, manage design feasibility, and ensure engineering and design commitments align with vehicle concepts. Fluency in English is required, with Mandarin a merit, and occasional travel to China may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Complete vehicle engineering knowledge for interior and exterior.
• Understanding of the vehicle development process.
• Experience with Catia and Teamcenter is required.
• Technical university or equivalent, +10 years in automotive industry.
• Experience in design studio surroundings is merited.

Position Title: Exterior/Interior Studio Engineer

Duration: Contract

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden

Description of the assignment:

• Being the voice of design, communicating design intents and needs within engineering
• Translating engineering requirements into design possibilities.
• Transferring and describing engineering and key legislative requirements to design.
• Generate feasible solutions for technically challenging areas.
• Managing and documenting agreements between design and engineering.
• Understand design intent and contribute technical solutions to drive development in the design direction.
• Document feasibility of design themes and raise critical issues.
• Help set up design clay models with regards to standing heights and wheel positions, seating positions etc.

Qualifications and skills required for the role:

• Complete vehicle engineering knowledge both interior and exterior.
• Complete understanding of vehicle development process.
• Very good Catia and Teamcenter experience
• Technical university or equivalent, +10 years solid working experience from automotive industry is required.
• Extensive automotive product concept and component engineering experience on aesthetic sensitive areas. Experience working in a design studio is merited.
• An understanding of the engineering and validation processes for vehicle components and systems.
• A working knowledge of component manufacturing, tooling requirements and lead times.
