Job summary

Solaris is seeking a Senior Data Protection Manager to support the Data Protection Officer and team in maintaining GDPR compliance across the organization. The role focuses on policy development, records of processing activities, training, and contractor governance.

You will lead DPIAs, monitor data processing activities, advise on data protection matters, and prepare reports for management. English proficiency is essential; German language is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6-8 years of work experience in data protection topics in-house and/or in consultancy firms.
• Higher education degree in law, business administration or similar; “lawyer” title would be nice to have.
• Solution oriented, pragmatic.
• Analytical, detail-oriented professional who pairs strong business acumen with a pragmatic, execution-oriented approach.
• Combines strong communication and presentation skills with agile methodology, with integrity.
• Comfortable working with AI tools, thinking critically about AI outputs, and contributing to responsible AI use.
• English professional speaker; German is desired but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Draft and update data protection policies and procedures annually or as needed.
• Maintain and update Records of Processing Activities (art. 30 GDPR).
• Safeguard the rights of data subjects and monitor reporting obligations.
• Train employees on data protection and privacy.
• Assist in selecting, contracting, and monitoring processors.
• Monitor data processing and assist with DPIAs for high-risk processing.
• Provide guidance on data protection provisions and internal guidelines.
• Draft the annual activity report and ad-hoc management reports.
• Conduct controls to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Investigate potential data breaches and coordinate notification where required.
• Possibly act as Deputy DPO when needed.
