Job summary

Riverty is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (C#/.NET) for our Stockholm hybrid team. You will design, build, and operate core backend services and APIs, collaborating closely with product, design, and domain experts to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

You will own production health, mentor teammates, and drive architectural decisions for high-throughput systems in a fast-paced FinTech environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend software engineering experience with C#/.NET.
• Experience designing clean REST APIs, message queues and event-driven workflows.
• Proficiency with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and ORMs (EF Core, Dapper).
• Cloud & DevOps experience deploying containerized services (Docker/Kubernetes) in Azure or similar.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

• Build & scale core services: Design, build, and ship robust backend services, APIs, and business-critical workflows using modern C# and .NET.
• Shape system architecture: Drive decisions on scalability, resilience, and performance for high-throughput distributed systems.
• Turn requirements into reality: Partner with product managers, designers, and domain experts to translate complex business needs into pragmatic technical solutions.
• Elevate the team: Mentor colleagues, conduct thoughtful code reviews, and share knowledge to help the engineering group grow.
• Own production health: Champion automated testing, clean documentation, and reliable deployment practices so we ship with confidence.

Qualifications

• Backend depth: 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with deep expertise in C# and modern .NET.
• Distributed systems: Practical experience designing clean REST APIs, message queues, event-driven workflows, and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Data fluency: Strong background with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL), query optimization, and ORMs like EF Core or Dapper.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience deploying and managing containerized services (Docker/Kubernetes) in cloud environments, ideally Microsoft Azure.
• Observability & troubleshooting: Skilled at diagnosing and resolving complex production issues using logs, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Pragmatic tooling: Comfortable leveraging AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to move faster, while applying sharp judgment to ensure security and code quality.
• Clear communication: Fluent in English, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to both engineering peers and non-technical partners.
• Bonus points: Prior experience with FinTech, banking, payments, or ledger/accounting systems is a strong plus.
