Job summary

Kaisa in Uppsala is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve scalable backend services and APIs. You’ll work with Product and Engineering to solve challenging problems, shape our technology, and push AI-enabled workflows into production.

You’ll mentor junior engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and help the team stay focused on delivering value. The role is based in Uppsala with flexible collaboration across London, Uppsala, and Paris, and a modern tech stack

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling distributed microservices and APIs.
• Experience working with AI agents and integrating LLM-based workflows into production systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Comfortable with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis).
• Experience with Python and PHP is a plus.
• A degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or similar is a plus but equivalent experience counts.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve scalable backend services, APIs, and event-driven systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and improve system quality and scalability.
• Collaborate with Product to translate business needs into technical solutions; ship features to production.
• Explore and integrate AI capabilities, including LLMs and agentic workflows, into production systems.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to technical discussions, and foster a collaborative team environment.
