Job summary

Aqilea in Sweden seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Android, to enable and deliver highly efficient Android applications and libraries across products and internal teams.

You will own substantial parts of the Android stack, review code, mentor juniors, and collaborate with product and release teams to ensure quality and timely delivery. Fluent English and Agile mindset are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Android development experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Android SDK.
• Experience with RESTful APIs.
• Proficient in Kotlin and Java.
• Version control using Git.
• Experience with SQL databases.
• Excellent debugging skills and problem solving.
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
• Experience with Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Write code with great code standards.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain Android applications and reusable platform libraries for multiple products and internal teams.
• Create and maintain public APIs, SDKs, and documentation for internal and external consumption.
• Deliver complex features and improve performance on the existing codebase.
• Analyze performance and reliability metrics; refactor and optimize code, memory and battery usage.
• Write tests and improve code coverage.
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Advise product and business teams with engineering insights.
• Mentor junior developers and uphold high engineering standards and a growth mindset.
• Coordinate with the release team for continuous delivery of high-quality code.

About The AssignmentAs a Senior Software Engineer, Android, you will be responsible for enabling and performing highly efficient application development, improving the services for the Android platform. You will be deeply involved in the whole cycle of product development, from idea generation to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Write code with great code standards
• Design, implement, test, and maintain Android applications and reusable platform libraries that support multiple products and internal teams
• Create and maintain public APIs, SDKs, and documentation for internal and external consumption to ensure consistent integration patterns
• Deliver complex features on both front-end intensive tasks and performance improvements on the existing code base
• Analyze performance and reliability metrics; proactively refactor and optimize code, memory, and battery usage for diverse device profiles
• Cover the code implementations with tests and improve the code coverage
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
• Bring engineering experience to advise product and business teams to make better decisions
• Mentor the junior developers and take ownership of maintaining high engineering standards and a growth mindset in the team
• Be the point of contact and liaise with the release team on the continuous delivery of high-quality code and the timely resolution of bugs

RequirementsMandatory

• 5+ years of experience in Android development
• Strong knowledge of the Android SDK (minimum 5+ years of experience)
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs
• Sound knowledge of Kotlin and Java programming languages
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Experience with SQL databases
• Excellent debugging skills
• Fluent in English, in speaking and writing
• Experience in working with Agile methodologies

Nice-to-have

• Experience publishing and maintaining libraries or SDKs to artifact repositories
• Familiarity with other mobile operating systems, like iOS
• Firebase tools such as remote config
