Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Senior AI Engineer Consultant with People Manager responsibility to lead a small team of AI Engineers and Data Scientists while contributing as a hands-on AI specialist in client assignments.

You will work on data, AI & ML solutions, collaborate with other engineering practices, and recruit, mentor, and develop your team. This is an excellent step into leadership within a high-performing environment.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in computer science, physics, mathematics, biology, or related engineering fields.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience with proficiency in Python, R, C++, and statistical data analysis.
• Experience with databases (SQL, Elasticsearch), data management tools (Databricks, Snowflake), and data pipelines (Spark, PySpark, Kafka, Hadoop).
• Familiarity with ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, AutoGen, OpenAI Agents SDK).
• Strong understanding of ETL processes and agentic workflows on cloud platforms. Ability to engage with external technology stakeholders.
• Experience from People Management is preferred but not mandatory

Your Role

In your role as a Senior AI Engineer, you will be part of a technical client assignment. You will be working on technical solutions and act as a Subject Matter Expert in Data, AI & ML. Collaboration with other engineering practices to optimize operations is key. As People Manager, you will be responsible for a small team of AI Engineers and Data Scientists delivering solutions to customers in industries such as defence, automotive, life science and others.

In this role you will play a key role in:

• Recruiting new team members and having people management responsibility for your team
• Supporting the Engineering Unit Manager with personnel management, business growth, and related activities
• Working on technical customer proposals
• Participating in technical project delivery and assignments for our clients
• Recruitment, retention, mentorship of team members

You will collaborate closely with our Talent team to recruit the right talent for the organization. You will be responsible for developing the team, fostering a healthy team spirit, and supporting consultants in their professional growth. Mentorship, coaching, and continuous feedback are essential aspects of this role.

The position combines team leadership with active participation as a consultant in our project deliveries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take their first or second step into a leadership role within a high-performing team environment.

Your Profile
