Job summary

Sway Sourcing is seeking a Senior AI & Data Engineer to design, build, and scale data platforms and AI-driven solutions. You will work at the intersection of data engineering, analytics engineering, and applied AI, translating complex business needs into scalable technical outcomes.

Qualifications

• 6–7+ years of experience in data/analytics engineering.
• Strong consulting or client-facing project background.
• Expert-level dbt experience with modular modeling and SQL.
• Strong Python programming, production-grade code.
• Experience with BigQuery and/or Snowflake architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD for data and data quality monitoring.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (pytest) and dependency management.

Senior AI & Data Engineer

Are you a Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in dbt, Python, and modern cloud data warehouses? We are looking for an experienced Senior AI & Data Engineer who wants to work at the intersection of data engineering, analytics engineering, and applied AI.

This role is particularly suited to someone with a strong consulting background who is comfortable in client-facing environments and skilled at translating complex or ambiguous business requirements into scalable, production-ready data and AI solutions.

About the Role

You will design, build, and scale modern data platforms and AI-driven solutions. Your work will range from robust data pipelines and transformation workflows to advanced analytics, machine learning, and emerging AI and agent-based use cases.

You will collaborate closely with both technical and business stakeholders and contribute to workshops focused on identifying opportunities where data and AI can create tangible business value.

Key Responsibilities

Who We Are Looking For

• 6–7+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering.

• Strong experience in consulting, professional services, or client-facing project environments.

• Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations and deliver solutions in dynamic environments.

• Expert-level dbt experience, including modular data modeling, macros, custom materializations, and version-controlled SQL.

• Strong professional experience with Python, including clean, reusable, production-grade code.

• Experience with testing frameworks such as pytest and dependency management.

• Senior-level expertise in BigQuery and/or Snowflake, including architecture and performance optimization.

• Experience implementing CI/CD for data, data quality monitoring, and automated testing.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Vector Databases, such as Pinecone or pgvector.

• Experience building data pipelines for RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).

• Hands-on experience with Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.

• Experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, or Scala.

• Experience monitoring and optimizing cloud compute costs and data warehouse spend.

• Familiarity with MLOps and platforms such as Vertex AI.

• Experience with dbt Semantic Layer or MetricFlow.

• Experience with AI/LLM solutions and AI agents.
