Job summary

SSC Space is seeking an RF Engineer to develop, test and maintain RF and telemetry systems for rocket and balloon missions at the Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, northern Sweden. You will work with an international team to translate customer requirements into reliable ground and launch solutions.

The role involves hands-on RF work, system analysis, collaboration across disciplines, and supporting campaigns outside regular hours.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronics, electrical engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong background in RF design, analysis and testing, preferably in telemetry, telecommunications or space technologies.
• Experience with RF system analysis, including link budgets, noise figure calculations and modulation techniques.
• Hands-on experience with RF test and measurement equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators and RF analyzers.
• Practical approach to troubleshooting and ability to translate technical requirements into workable solutions.
• Good collaboration skills and interest in working across engineering disciplines in an international environment.
• Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, maintain and improve RF and telemetry systems at Esrange Telemetry Station and local installations.
• Gather and analyze requirements from internal teams and external customers, and develop RF solutions that meet their needs.
• Design and integrate custom installations for stratospheric balloon and rocket operations, including hybrid rocket projects.
• Perform RF system analysis, including link budgets, noise figure calculations and modulation assessments.
• Configure and operate RF equipment, including analyzers, signal generators, switch matrices, wideband recorders and receivers.
• Support PCB design and layout in collaboration with engineering teams.
• Support customer campaigns and launch operations with Esrange Telemetry Station and customers’ mobile telemetry stations.
• Prepare technical documentation for design reviews, testing and system operation.
